Run Forrest Run!
As always, my hubby and I went out on our weekly date last Friday after work.
Lookie here:
I really enjoy these dates with my husband. Ever since we became friends, we really enjoy each other's company and love to go into long conversations about anything under the sun. We also love eating out and going on dinner dates.
We've been together for 10 years already and still there are more things to learn and discover! Love you hunny.

Travel Plans for 2008
Last year was definitely a year of travel for my family. My Dad decided to go last June to Frankfurt, Germany to visit our relatives there and then headed to Rome, Italy to attend the canonization of St. Maria Eugenie, Foundress of the Assumption sisters. He also made a quick trip to Florence to see the famous architectural sights there and also stayed in Assisi, the hometown of his favorite saint, St. Francis. Around that time too, my husband and I also went abroad together to visit Singapore for their Annual Great Singapore Sale. We had such a blast scouring through all the sales! And then during the latter part of the year, it was my sister's turn to travel. She stayed in nice hotels in Tokyo and Osaka in Japan for three whole weeks and enjoyed every bit of her time there.
This year, my Dad also has been making plans to go to Hong Kong in May. My sister, on the other hand, is almost done finalizing her travel plans and hotel reservations for her trip to Sydney, Australia for the World Youth Day in July. As for my husband and I, our target is to apply for a US visa soon hoping to attend the wedding of my cousin in Chicago this October. I've already been to several countries in Europe but have never traveled to the US. But since budget is a concern, our next option is just to go this year to Bangkok or Shanghai for our second honeymoon. I have been browsing the internet and found this site which offers great deals and discounts on hotel reservations and resort accommodations. With the help of this site, travel can now be convenient and hassle-free. I'm actually planning on booking with them as soon as our vacation schedule and budget are finalized. Anyway, let's just hope for the best and start saving all that travel money!

Consider Cosmetic Surgery
Particularly abroad, a lot of women have been undergoing cosmetic surgery even if it would mean experiencing pain and spending a lot of money. The more popular procedure that women are now getting is breast enhancement. In this site about Breast Enhancement UK, it seems that many are becoming more open to fact that there are good benefits that can be derived from having a more curvaceous and voluptuous body. Many times, having a breast lift or enlargement or a tummy tuck can actually be a major confidence boost for women.

Let's Talk About Love
3. For those still looking for their lifetime partner and seem to be feeling hopeless, the more you need pray for discernment and that God will show you the right person. Meantime, you have to help yourself.
Here are some tips:
a. Always look and feel beautiful (or handsome). But flaunting it out by wearing very revealing clothes and loud make-up don't necessarily attract the best guys. Dress with style as well as with dignity.
a. Avoid going to places where you will be tempted (bars and night clubs). There are many other things you can do apart from clubbing.
b. Make sure people are always around. To be alone (in a secluded place where there is no one in sight) is too tempting for even the most pious person.
d. Go on group dates with friends. If you hang out with friends who have the same standards and morals as you, then you will feel uncomfortable if you and your partner are planning to engage in acts proper to married people only.
5. I think the best advice I could give for those who are still in the courtship and engagement stage is to learn to WAIT. The gift of yourself is the best gift you can give to your husband on your wedding night. It will be the best thing you’ve ever done – to offer yourself with 100% love. love.
6. In marriage, taking unto oneself a partner, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health until death, is serious business. Thus, a happy and successful marriage is one of life's greatest blessings.
"In this sense, marriage is truly a career--one instituted by God Himself to carry a man and his wife and their children along life's highway to heaven."

With A Little Help...
We have been living with my Dad since my husband and I got married. We're actually not complaining since the house is newly-built and is big enough for our needs. However, part of our family vision and mission is also for my husband and I to be able to buy our very own house and lot. We plan to get a Homeowner Loan soon. One option is to apply for a housing loan in a bank. I can also avail of a housing assistance loan in my company as part of my benefit as an regular employee. Our in-house terms and rates are still lower than that of any commercial bank around. The only catch here is that I would be tied up with the company and won't be able to resign as long as I have a big outstanding loan with them.
At any rate, whatever our decision will be, there are still a few things we need to settle. First and foremost, we need to decide on the location of the property that we would purchase. We want to find a place that's just near our present house. We currently live in a suburban area where it is safe and conducive for children to be brought up. The only problem is that our area easily gets flooded whenever there are strong rains and typhoons. Our second problem is not having enough savings for the down payment or equity to purchase the property. While we're really trying to save, hopefully, my Dad can also help us in that aspect. We're keeping our fingers crossed!

What Kind of Shoe Are You?
You Are Flip Flops |
![]() You are laid back and very friendly. Cheery and sunny in disposition, you usually have something to smile about. Style is important to you, as long as you can stay casual. It takes a lot to get you to dress up! You are a loyal and true person, though you can be a bit of a flake. You tend to "play hooky" and blow off responsibilities a lot more than most people. Coming Home
In one of her last phone calls, she told me that she might move out of her current apartment whom she shares with other Filipinos. The flat where they stay has become too crowded for her and her housemates. I think one of her housemates already has his whole family with him there. Mortgage payments in London are quite high so she has been living ever since in the suburban area. So to travel to the city proper, she still needs to take the train. The rates that she needs to pay for this new place is much lower plus it is located very near a church. I told her to go for it in view of the money that she will save for renting a new flat.

Resolution for 2008: To be Debt-Free
My only consolation is that our personal incomes have shot up a considerable amount in the past year. This truly helps in coping with our existing obligations. If not for that, we would have to face a very difficult financial situation.
As a resolution this year, my husband and I have decided to make a Debt Management Plan. We now make sure that we set aside a portion of our salaries for savings. Aside from that, we also have minimized the use of the credit card especially for grocery shopping and gasoline expenses. We also agreed to eat out less and spend more time during weekend just at home with the baby. These small steps in frugal living should make a big impact in our savings and existing credit card standing.

When You Hit Financial Rock-Bottom
To avoid these instances from happening, it is essential to formulate a Debt Managment Plan. Having this plan is the solution to avoid the risk of bankruptcy. Especially for those who almost hit rock-bottom financially, it is good to request a good financial advisor to offer available solutions in managing their debts better and reclaiming their lost financial reputation. These financial advisors will discuss with the client the available remedial financial products available and help them in getting out of the financial pit.
As a lesson learned, I am now personally very careful whenever I need to avail of any credit. This is because constant and thoughtless borrowing might lead to unsecured debt because we may never know what the future holds.

Being In Control of Your Future
I guess that particular incident got me interested in availing of disability insurance. Even though we are a double-income family and are at the peak of our careers, you can never be sure if you will be continue to be healthy or able to work on a full-time basis in the next few years or so.
Since my husband is still traveling a lot as part of his job, the best way to secure his future income and his ability to earn a living is to get a disability insurance. In this regard, the first step that we’re going to do is to request for disability insurance quotes from the internet. From there, we’ll be able to decide on which insurance company can provide the best product and service in terms of disability insurance.

A Secured Future for the Family
While I have already gotten several life insurance policies for myself ever since I was single, it is only now that my husband has been interested in getting an insurance policy. As the head of the family, he feels that the best way to secure our family’s future aside from saving up money in the bank is to have a life insurance policy. Through the help of online life insurance quotes, we were able to compare the different insurance products and the range of rates available in the market. In the end, he has finally decided to get a term life insurance since he is already not so young and to get a full life insurance would be a bit too costly for us at the moment.

Food Tripping This February (Long Read)
Let me just share to you some of our food trips lately...
First Trip - Panciteria de San Jacinto in Pasig
Ever since I could remember, my family has been flocking to San Jacinto for celebrations -- birthdays, graduations and other blessings.
I think the last time we went there as a family was when my mom was still alive and I graduated from my MBA course at the Ateneo Grad School of Business.
Anyway, as a sort of celebration for my mom's supposedly 61st birthday, my hubby, dad and I went to San Jacinto for dinner on February 01.
I noticed that they replaced some of the furniture and added some sofa / couches to make it more comfy. But as usual, the ambiance was still homey, the service good and the food yummy. In short, I love it there.
Second Trip - Marina in Jupiter Street, Makati
On one of those Fridays (of Lent), I asked my husband to bring me to Marina since I was craving for crab meat. The last time I craved for crab was when I was still pregnant with Zoe so that already some time ago. Is this a sign?
Overall, Marina is quite a disappointment. First, they didn't have anymore bangus available. Plus, all of orders had to be followed-up and came in late and in trickles. The food was not only late but for me it didn't taste as good as Breakthrough in Iloilo (at least for the higher price I should expect more, right?). Last, since my hubby wanted to drink some, when he ordered for his second bottle in advance, one of the waiters made a mistake of picking up his bottle of beer even if it still had some more left. My hubby gave him the look. Good thing, the manager was watching and immediately scolded the waiter and gave the excuse to us that he was just new. Anyway, because of this experience, I don't think we will be going back there anytime soon.
Third Trip -- Gerry's Grill in Trinoma
When my sister came over one weekend, we went to Trinoma and had early dinner at Gerry's Grill.
I highly recommend Gerry's Grill. The service was fast and the food tastes good. The waiters were also friendly. Plus the prices are relatively cheap. It only came out around 1,200 pesos for 5 adults (plus 1 toddler). Not bad, huh?
Of course, we ordered the yummiest food there. Haha! I felt I had a cholesterol overload after that.
Fourth Trip - Taste Asia in SM Hypermart Pasig
On Valentine's Night, my hubby and I decided to avoid the crowds and just go to the grocery to buy milk for baby girl Zoe. Unfortunately, SM didn't have any stock of Zoe's milk.
Anyway, since we were already there, we decided to grab dinner in the turo-turo style Taste Asia (Japanese). I thought at first that we made a good choice since we didn't have to fall in line or wait to be seated. But no, I regretted our decision to eat there at my very first taste of what we ordered. The food is really not ok (to put it lightly). Plus I think it caused some tummy ache for hubby the next day. I swear, I won't be eating there again.
Last Trip (for now) -- Dampa in Julia Vargas, Pasig
After work last Friday, we decided to eat out again to make up for our terrible dinner that we had at Taste Asia the day before. Since it was hard to go to Glorietta or Greenbelt because of the on-going rally, we instead drove to Pasig to eat at Dampa, particularly in Aling Tonya's Paluto where we are already 'suki'.
I was wishing and praying that the food will be so much better than what we had the day before. And so it was (but for a much higher price). We ordered Shrimps in butter, calamares and kilawin all at 1/2 kilo each. When the food arrived, it looked like we we're having our "last supper". Haha! The food served was so much (errr...too much) for just 2 persons that we had to bring home more than half of what we ordered. Anyway, I enjoyed it there. Plus we saw Gaby dela Merced also eating in one of the stalls there. O di ba, star-struck ako. Hehehe.
Till our next foodie trip! Hope you enjoyed reading!
