Our Valentine's Date

Image
Our Valentine's was spent on a date with my uncle and aunt who are visiting from the States. My aunt said she wanted to do something cultural before she returned to the US so we bought tickets to see the Philippine Madrigal Singers at the Meralco Theatre last February 13. I personally was so happy since I love The Madz! What's more it is that we were seated at the 3rd row which means we got to see the concert in its meaty goodness. My relatives loved their kundiman medley which, I think, brought back memories of their younger days here in the Philippines. I, on the other hand, loved all of the songs in the second half which were a mix of popular local and foreign (and more updated) songs. For a great and enjoyable Valentine's, seeing the Madz would always be on top of my list.

Zoe's Going to SCHOOL!

Image
After a long search, my hubby and I finally found a summer school for Zoe. Last Friday, I was able to enroll her to Kindermusik with Teacher Jeannie and Company. Summer starts on May 2, 2009 and it runs for 6 sessions. During the trial class, I was surprised and so glad to see a good friend there (Lingling with her son Niño). Zoe and I felt right at home. To describe Zoe's experience in one word - FUN! She was shrieking like crazy (I guess out of excitement and joy). And I love singing along with the songs and enjoying it with my baby. Of course, I also got so tired chasing the girl around (considering my present condition). She's the same at home and in school - super ingay and super likot ! But I'm so looking forward to the classes this summer. I'll post more pictures of our little adventure tomorrow (as usual, forgot my camera cable). Be back soon! *pictures c/o Teacher Jeannie's website

I'm in the Singing Mood...

I've always loved this song ever since I listened to it years ago. And what a good lesson it teaches to mothers like me. CHILDREN WILL LISTEN Barbra Streisand How do you say to your child in the night Nothing is all black but then nothing is all white? How do you say it will all be alright When you know that it mightn't be true? What do you do? Careful the things you say, Children will listen. Careful the things you do, Children will see. And learn. Children may not obey, But children will listen. Children will look to you For which way to turn, To learn what to be. Careful before you say, "Listen to me." Children will listen. Careful the wish you make, Wishes are children. Careful the path they take, Wishes come true, Not free. Careful the spell you cast, Not just on children. Sometimes the spell may last Past what you can see And turn against you... Careful the tale you tell. That is the spell. Children will listen... How can you say to a child who's in flight, ...

Some Christmas Comic Relief

The Bill Gates Song (to the tune of "The Christmas Song") Netscape roasting on an open fire, Apple begging on its knees, Photo popping up on Time magazine, Yes, Bill Gates dreams of days like these! Everybody knows he's never fully satisfied, Throws himself behind each task, World dominion is his company's goal. Well, hey, is that so much to ask? He knows the world is in his sway, We'll buy whatever software he might toss our way, We'll surf his Internet, watch his TV, He'll take us anywhere we ask him--for a fee. And so we're offering this simple prayer, To Bill and all his MS grunts: Since we all follow any standard you write, Make it good, please, Make it good, please, Make it good, please, just once! *** Happily Addicted to the Web (to the tune of "Winter Wonderland") Doorbell rings, I'm not list'nin', From my mouth, drool is glist'nin', I'm happy--although My boss let me go-- Happily addicted to the Web. Red Box Night

Image
We had an unscheduled Red Box (Trinoma) date with our UP friends last week. Gracia had some foreigner friends from SEAP (one from Brunei and one from Indonesia) so we joined them in singing the night away. Had a lot of fun, drinks and some croaked voices (hehehe)! Hmm...I think we need to do this more often. I barely know any new song. Happy with our mini-concert. Sige lang nang sige sa pagkanta. Btw, how do you like my new pair of eyeglasses? Eumir, our official photographer. Food shot muna! Kame-kame ulit. Thanks for inviting us Gracia & Eumir! We had fun!

No Need to Say Goodbye...

Regina Spektor - The Call lyrics It started out as a feeling Which then grew into a hope Which then turned into a quiet thought Which then turned into a quiet word And then that word grew louder and louder Til it was a battle cry I'll come back When you call me No need to say goodbye Just because everything's changing Doesn't mean it's never Been this way before All you can do is try to know Who your friends are As you head off to the war Pick a star on the dark horizon And follow the light You'll come back When it's over No need to say good bye You'll come back When it's over No need to say good bye.. Now we're back to the beginning It's just a feeling and no one knows yet But just because they can't feel it too Doesn't mean that you have to forget Let your memories grow stronger and stronger Til they're before your eyes You'll come back When they call you No need to say good bye You'll come back When they call you No need t...

Legally Blonde (The Musical)

Image
My dear sister will be directing another musical in their school. They've already done Les Miserable, Wicked, and something else (forgot na what it was) in the past. Anyway, for this year, they're already preparing to do Legally Blonde, the Musical. The kids are really excited! Anybody here in blogsphere who has a soundtrack that I could borrow? :-) This musical sounds so interesting...

Sing With Me!

EVERYDAY James Taylor Every day it's getting closer Going faster than a roller coaster A love like yours would surely come my way Every day seems a little faster All my friends they say go on up and ask her A love like yours would surely come my way Every day it seems a little stronger Every day it lasts a little longer Come what may do you ever long for True love from me like I longed for yours baby Every day seems a little closer Going faster than a roller coaster A love like yours would surely come my way A love like yours would surely come my way Every day Every day it seems a little stronger Every day you know it lasts a little longer Come what may do you ever long for True love from me like I longed for yours baby Every day seems a little closer Going faster than a roller coaster A love like yours would surely come my way Every day....

I Heart Josh!

Hubby and I watched the All-Star Game last night in ESPN. The game lasted for about four hours. If I'm not mistaken, for the last time, the game will be held at the historic Yankee Stadium. It's because NY is building a bigger and nicer stadium next to the old one. Tama ba Hun? Dream kasi ni hubby (at ako na rin) na makapunta sa NY to watch MLB. Die-hard Yankee fan kasi sya. :-) Anyway, as part of the tradition, someone sings "God Bless America" before the bottom of the 7th inning (I think). Suddenly, Josh Groban came out and sang it for the people. HE WAS AMAZING! I also love his All-Star 08 shirt with "GROBAN" written at the back! I heart you Josh! Listen...

Listening to the Radio

I've been looking for a gift my husband for several weeks now. You see, his birthday and Father's Day had already passed and I still have not bought a gift for him. I've been long delaying buying him a gift because I just want to get the perfect one. At first, I was thinking of getting him a new white gold men's bracelet but when I mentioned the idea to him, he told me that he wasn't so fond of jewelry. Anyway, one of his other interests is listening to music. He doesn't really sing but loves to listen to the radio and collect music to be stored in his MP3 player. In the regard, I've been eyeing on buying him this new wonderful thing called Polk Audio I-sonic ES2 . Being a music lover, I think this is one of my best gift choices for him. With this, he can now listen to his favorite new country music stations . He can even listen in to Florida High Definition Radio stations whenever he wants. Wouldn't it be good to be able to take advantage of this new H...

My New Favorite Song

When You're Gone Avril Lavigne I always needed time on my own I never thought I'd need you there when I cry And the days feel like years when I'm alone And the bed where you lie is made up on your side When you walk away I count the steps that you take Do you see how much I need you right now [Chorus] When you're gone The pieces of my heart are missing you When you're gone The face I came to know is missing too When you're gone The words I need to hear to always get me through the day and make it ok I miss you I've never felt this way before Everything that I do reminds me of you And the clothes you left, they lie on the floor And they smell just like you, I love the things that you do When you walk away I count the steps that you take Do you see how much I need you right now [Chorus] We were made for each other Out here forever I know we were, yeah All I ever wanted was for you to know Everything I'd do, I'd give my heart and soul I can hardly breat...

"Love Moves" in the Flesh!

Image
My sister was in Manila for a few days this week. I tried to think of a nice thing to do or place to go since it would still be around May when she comes back. At first I thought it would be great to see the Hot Air Balloon Festival at the Clark Airfield. However, we were already foreseeing a lot of traffic in the afternoon, so we didn't push through with it. Instead, we just decided to go to Trinoma since my sister hasn't been there yet. When we got to Trinoma, we learned that Julia Fordham was to perform there live! We felt so so lucky! The show was to start at 7pm so we had early dinner at Gerry's Grill (which I would blog about separately) and afterwards rushed just in time to hear the opening number. I thought that after a few songs we would already make our way out, but no, we stayed all the way until the end. It was so great! My sister, my Hunny and I love her! It feels so good singing along with her! (Beats me why some people like the version of "Love Moves...

Secret O' Life

I found myself singing this song one day on the way home after a tiring day at the office. My husband was playing the James Taylor concert on his MP4 which was attached to the car stereo. I love this song! It makes me reminisce those old days when my then "friend" (now my husband) and I were still getting to know each other. And I love the fact that we enjoyed, more or less, the same kinds of songs. Hun, do you remember the day we sang this song in unison after my birthday party? How about the time when we would play cds in-sync on our own respective players while we're talking on the phone until the wee hours in the morning? Gee, courtship was really a sweet, fun and memorable time. But of course, now that we're married, it's much much better!!! SECRET O' LIFE James Taylor The secret of life is enjoying the passage of time Any fool can do it There ain't nothing to it Nobody knows how we got to The top of the hill But since were on our way down We might as...

World Youth Day 2008

Image
I'm so happy for my sister. A few years ago, she was able to go to Rome. Then late last year, she was in Japan. Then this year in July -- Australia! I so envy her. Yup, she already officially enlisted herself to the WYD 2008 to be held in Sydney, Australia! How I wish I can be there too. I remember the WYD here in Manila. I was just in college then. We (the Stella Orientis Choir) won the Gregorian Chant competition and thus got the chance to sing for the then Pope John Paul II in PICC plus we got to be part of the big big choir who sang in the Vigil Mass and Sto. Nino mass at the Quirino Grand Stand. Remember the song, "Tell The World of His Love"? Yup, we sang that song (with matching hand-action) a million times during that event. I love it! That experience was so great, unforgettable and even life-changing for me. I felt that I could really make a difference in the world (and this still holds true, you know.) I still get teary-eyed when I remember that day when I saw ...

Josh Groban's Awake Concert 2007

Image
Here are some pics of my Josh Groban experience last October 18, 2007 at the PICC Plenary Hall. These are our VIP tickets worth 20k each (yabang!). Thanks Nokia for choosing my answer as the winning entry! See my article in my old blog for the story behind these tickets. The stage is set...fantastic! The best pic I got --- was too busy emoting during the concert. Hehehe. It was GREAT! Come back to Manila soon JOSH GROBAN! :-)
