RH Bill Update

I normally do not surf through local news and felt quite bad to see the Philippines in the international news pages. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-20863691 Really, P-Noy?

What's Happening?

We have been hearing news lately about the big financial crisis that the United States is currently facing. The White House has already made a statement to Congress about letting them act accordingly in order to avoid a great recession from happening in the country. But if the recession does happen, for sure most of the world markets will be negatively affected and we definitely don't want that to happen, of course. In my case, since I am working for a big financial institution, we could already feel, as early as now, the effect of the filing of bankruptcy of this big investment firm in the United States since we have huge dollar investments there. But Management is taking it all in stride. There is no immediate need to panic since there are still solutions that can be applied and life goes on as usual. Well, I guess that's really the way things are in the investment business. Everything is all a big risk. But do you know that risk is not all about losing but also about winning...

On The Brighter Side of Things

Actress Nicole Kidman recently gave birth to a baby girl named Sunday Rose. I think it's rather a cute name. :-) And although miles away, I am secretly happy for this couple for every new baby is such a blessing! Found this at Keith Urban's site : Sounds like he's one proud daddy!

Cut Back On The Caffeine

Image
Times must be really hard. I heard this week that Starbucks is closing down some 600 stores and letting go of many employees. Talk about cutting back on the caffeine. Literally.

Congrats Pac-Man!

Congrats Pac-man! I heard that you won another boxing title! You make us proud to be Filipinos today. :-) More about THE fight here .

Caught in the Flood

We had our share of Typhoon Frank during the weekend. No choice but to stay in the house and wait for the news. Now, who got caught in the flood? Read about it in my other blog .

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Just got a text from my sister how bad the typhoon is in their place in Iloilo. They have no electricity and water since yesterday and some houses are flooded up to roof! Oh wow, that's bad. So pls. typhoon Frank, pls. pls. go away!

Prayers Prevail

I heard about the release of newscaster Ces Drilon and cameraman Jimmy Encarnacion as I awoke to the sound of the TV this morning. It's nice to hear that they've regained their freedom. But if they indeed paid the ransom or not, that's something I'd rather not dwell into. :-) Anyway, thanks be to God!

Weekend Update

Image
We officially started our weekend by a dinner date Friday night in Pancake House in Makati Avenue. The week was super-duper tiring and stressful. My mother in law just got back home from the hospital and my husband was so stressed out that it was good to have some quiet time together. However, this date turned out to be a not-so-quiet date for us. There was a young couple sitting next to us. They literally entertained us. Hehehe. Instead of us talking about our day, we ate in amusement while watching this couple who were fighting. It was actually the girl who was fuming mad. She was saying with an angry tone -- "O, bakit hindi ka pa umalis sa harap ko. Pumunta ka na sa mga barkada mo" or something like that. LOL. Good thing we don't fight like that anymore (well, not that much anymore). Moving on, the next day, we woke up early to go to morning mass. We brought along Zoe who was relatively well-behaved. Just like other kids, she loves pointing at the pictures and statues ...

Were You There?

I passed by Ayala Avenue in Makati last Friday and decided to snap a picture of the ongoing rally. Nope, I didn't join the rally -- was just there for a recollection that was held nearby.

TARA 2 Final Leg

I almost cancelled our Valentines date to be able to catch the The Amazing Race Asia 2's final leg. Of course, I was all the way cheering for the team of Marc and Rovilson. Unfortunately, the 1st prize was not for them. It went to Singaporeans Adrian and Colin (whom I felt would win it since their Sony tv ad kept on playing in-between the show). Anyhow, I think it has been a more enjoyable TARA season because of the antics of Marc and Rovilson. It's a great feeling to see "kababayans" excel in something, especially since their team came in 1st place for most of the legs. My hubby said I had tears in my eyes as the episode ended. Hehehe. Of course they weren't tears of sadness but tears of sleepiness (if there is such a thing). I was already so sleepy since we were only able to catch the 2nd run of the show in AXN at around 12 midnight because we still had dinner out to celebrate Valentine's Day. The show ended at 1 in the morning. Yawn, yawn, yawn. Hopefully n...
