Red Box Night

Image
We had an unscheduled Red Box (Trinoma) date with our UP friends last week. Gracia had some foreigner friends from SEAP (one from Brunei and one from Indonesia) so we joined them in singing the night away. Had a lot of fun, drinks and some croaked voices (hehehe)! Hmm...I think we need to do this more often. I barely know any new song. Happy with our mini-concert. Sige lang nang sige sa pagkanta. Btw, how do you like my new pair of eyeglasses? Eumir, our official photographer. Food shot muna! Kame-kame ulit. Thanks for inviting us Gracia & Eumir! We had fun!

Painting the Town Red on Zoe's Birthday!

Image
Last Sept. 9, we took Zoe out to celebrate her birthday. We already hung her birthday poster and banner the night before so that when she wakes up, she would be delighted to see the picture of Dora on the wall. That morning, we brought her to church first to attend mass as a thanksgiving. On the way home from the mass, we decided to pass by the nearby Jollibee/Red Ribbon to buy her french fries and a small birthday cake. We left the house again before lunch and headed for Megamall where we ate at KFC... ...and dropped by Toy Kingdom (she had a blast!). We also passed by SM Department Store to buy Zoe her birthday outfit plus a dora item that could serve as her cake topper. We were really supposed to buy her big birthday cake from Goldilocks since they offer a Dora character cake. However, the lady at the store was disgusting to deal with so we decided last weekend to just order a generic kid's 2-tiered birthday cake from Red Ribbon and just put a Dora statue on top of the cake. Any...

Manila Ocean Park

Image
My sister arrived Saturday in Manila from Iloilo (for the wedding of the century). The next day, after hearing mass and going to the cemetery to visit our Nanay, we trooped to the Manila Ocean Park near Quirino Grandstand. Unfortunately, there were soooo many people there that we decided to just go back some other day na lang (most probably on a weekday). Among the flood of people, I saw my old college friend Rhaetia there (she's now a lawyer). Their number was in the 300's and had been waiting there for almost 1 hour. When I looked at our number --- 710! Whaaa! It could take us 48 years (as they say) just to enter the place. Ha! Tough luck! Sayang, we were hoping Zoe will get the see all those FISH!!!! She loves to say FISSSSHHH (whether refering to the live ones in our mini-pond or to the cooked ones on our dinner plate) LOL. Here are some photos from outside. After that, we decided to just head to MOA for a quick snack. The place was packed too. How could I forget?!!! It wa...

Girlfriends Get Together

Image
My childhood friends and I trooped to Serendra on Sunday evening for some bonding moments since Cleo just came back from abroad. These girls have been my friends for the longest time. Being neighbors, we all grew up together. They were the ones who were always present during my childhood birthdays (even up to now actually). I even have proof that Cristy (outer left) was in my 1st birthday party! :-) That's how long we've been friends. :-) Having grown up together, we understand each other pretty well. When you look at us, it may seem that we really don't have much in common now. But what's common to us really are our friendship and childhood memories. We talked about anything under the sun -- the latest chika in the neighborhood, old boyfriends, the games we used to play, our past cat-fights, our families, daily struggles, fashion finds. etc. etc. Thus, dinner together would mean a lot of fun, a lot of laughs and a lot of reminiscing of our good ol' childhood days. ...

"Love Moves" in the Flesh!

Image
My sister was in Manila for a few days this week. I tried to think of a nice thing to do or place to go since it would still be around May when she comes back. At first I thought it would be great to see the Hot Air Balloon Festival at the Clark Airfield. However, we were already foreseeing a lot of traffic in the afternoon, so we didn't push through with it. Instead, we just decided to go to Trinoma since my sister hasn't been there yet. When we got to Trinoma, we learned that Julia Fordham was to perform there live! We felt so so lucky! The show was to start at 7pm so we had early dinner at Gerry's Grill (which I would blog about separately) and afterwards rushed just in time to hear the opening number. I thought that after a few songs we would already make our way out, but no, we stayed all the way until the end. It was so great! My sister, my Hunny and I love her! It feels so good singing along with her! (Beats me why some people like the version of "Love Moves...

Cultural Trip(ping) - Ayala Museum Revisited

Image
When was the last time you've ever visited a place of culture, a museum maybe? Or have you ever visited a museum at all? When I was in elementary grade, we would have those yearly field trips to the musuems, zoo, and the like. Sadly, those didn't impact on me much (maybe because everything was in a rush). What made a firmer effect on me was when my parents would bring my sister and I, at our own leisurely pace, to very interesting places (no, not the malls) such as Intramuros, old churches and houses of heroes like Jose Rizal on weekends or during our vacation trips in the province. You see, my parents are both educators and being so, they're very keen to share with us the value of history and culture. I still remember those trips to Fort Santiago where my dad would sort of "lecture" about the history of our independence -- our "kasarinlan"--, he would say (sounds so much like the Filipino teacher that he is). It was a great growing up experience. Up to ...

Exec Offices Christmas Party

Image
For the first time, our Executive Offices Christmas Party was held in a venue outside the bank. We celebrated it last Friday, December 14, 2007, in one of the function rooms of Kensington Condos in The Fort, Taguig. Our theme was "Sound of the 70's Night". Unlike the past two Christmas parties, our 4th floor group didn't prepare any surprise dance number. Last last year, we danced to the tune of "Pinoy Ako" and bagged the 1st place. Last year naman, we danced to a mix of Jingle Bell Rock and Boom-Tarat-Tarat. Again, 1st place kami. This year, super wala. Hall of fame (err shame) na daw. Hehehe. To make up for the lack of presentation, we just helped decorate the place. Here are some of the memorable moments in our party: Early birds (wala pang prize?): Taken by no less than Mr. Chairman - pro sa pagkuha (ng table cloth) LOLZ: Smiling but non-victorious sa one and only game (pambato pa naman ng Team 4th floor): In fairness, dumating si Elvis: By the poolside...
