I Feel Like...

...a newly-wed because I went to the "palengke" today with my husband and just to let you know, we haven't done some serious "palengke" shopping in a long, long while. It actually feels good, ya know. And I didn't expect that. The last time I went to the palengke and actually paid for the goods was a week after my Mom died. I felt so bad then because the one who sold us fish got my 100 peso bill, put it inside their cash bin and then after giving me the fish accused me that my money was fake (showing me a 100 peso bill that was wet and spoiled). I was furious then that I vowed not to step foot on that market place again. And so after 3 years of staying away and just doing my grocery shopping and some marketing in SM Hypermart or Shopwise, I made the "return of the comeback" this time with Hun. It's because my Dad, the one who does the marketing for the family, is now on his honeymoon and will be away for the time being. Nevertheless, I think th

Jollibee Kid

Image
Just want to share this pic of Zoe looking like a very happy Jollibee kid. It's so cute how she really screams in delight whenever she sees her favorite Jollibee! ( This picture, however, was taken inside Max's resto in Shangrila LOL). While in the car, you'll know that there's a Jollibee store or picture somewhere when you hear Zoe say a loud HHHHiiiiiii (with matching wave)!!! It's really funny.

Pilgrimage to Antipolo and My Sister's Birthday

Image
The month of May, apart from being the month of Our Lady, is definitely loaded with birthdays for my family. First to celebrate is me (May 13), my cousin Ate Rizza (May 19), then my Tita Mila (May 21), my Dad (May 22), my cousin Ria (May 23), my sister (May 24), and finally my Tito Jerry (May 30). As a tradition in my family, we always go up to Antipolo to give thanks for our May birthdays. And so on my sister's birthday, I invited my Tito Freddie and Tita Mila from Germany for a short pilgrimage to Antipolo to visit the historical Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage. The place was crowded with pilgrims like us. Though it was hot inside, I felt very happy for it brought back wonderful memories of my childhood. :-) Here's my tito and tita: In the afternoon, we decided to go to Calamba to see my sister, the birthday girl, who was staying there for her annual course. We just had a quick snack in the nearby Red Ribbon in WalterMart. The day ended quite well. It was a very happy day

A New Business Opportunity

I have a friend from the bank who recently migrated to the United States to try out her luck in a foreign country. She easily found some kind of employment for herself in an office. However, while being able to work in that office, she also wants to join her roommate in her real estate business. Her roommate has been doing well in that business for the past 10 years or so. She would be able to help my friend get into that business opportunity too. Since the economy may not be doing so good and there is a slowdown in business including in the area of real estate, you really need the proper background, connections and training to make it big. But first you need to learn the basic ropes of the job but studying, right? To help this friend of mine, so I sent her a link on REO Home Study Course . I told her that while continuing to work on her day job, she can undergo some REO Agent Training to aid her in her new venture. Having previous banking experience here in the Philippines, I'm s

Want to Watch

Image
I just realized that I haven't watched in the cinema for so long. To prove a point, the last movie I watched inside the cinema was 300 and that was like ages ago. Good thing my sister told me (in one of our cute conversations while window shopping) about the release of Prince Caspian. Yeah, I have the book, read the book and loved the book. I got interested in the whole Narnia series mainly because of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. You see, that book (or play or movie), apart from being one of my sister's favorites, has a special significance in my relationship with my then-boyfriend (who is fortunately now my husband = long story). Anyway, here's a cut-and-paste of the review I found in Mercatornet : The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian The second of the new big screen Narnia films finds the once glorious kingdom under the rule of a dark empire. Review by Leticia Velasquez Monday, 19 May 2008 Directed by Andrew Adamson 140 min. PG Starring: Ben Barnes, William M

Manila Ocean Park

Image
My sister arrived Saturday in Manila from Iloilo (for the wedding of the century). The next day, after hearing mass and going to the cemetery to visit our Nanay, we trooped to the Manila Ocean Park near Quirino Grandstand. Unfortunately, there were soooo many people there that we decided to just go back some other day na lang (most probably on a weekday). Among the flood of people, I saw my old college friend Rhaetia there (she's now a lawyer). Their number was in the 300's and had been waiting there for almost 1 hour. When I looked at our number --- 710! Whaaa! It could take us 48 years (as they say) just to enter the place. Ha! Tough luck! Sayang, we were hoping Zoe will get the see all those FISH!!!! She loves to say FISSSSHHH (whether refering to the live ones in our mini-pond or to the cooked ones on our dinner plate) LOL. Here are some photos from outside. After that, we decided to just head to MOA for a quick snack. The place was packed too. How could I forget?!!! It wa

Updates on 2nd blog

Hey, sorry if I've neglected my other blog " House Everything ". I tried to write some updates here .

Went to the Gingersnaps Sale

I forgot to blog about this but I was able to finally go to the Gingersnaps Warehouse Sale last weekend and got to buy several nice items (t-shirts, dresses, pants). We didn't bring Zoe with us so we were just estimating the sizes if they would all fit her. When we got home, it was so sad to find out that some of the clothes, although they fit Zoe's body, wouldn't fit Zoe's head. The opening of some t-shirts and dresses were too small for Zoe's big head. Tsk tsk. Sayang. Anyway, at least the other clothes I got are soooo cute!!! I hope I don't forget to take pictures soon. Btw, prices for infant t-shirts are for only 100 each and 150-200 only for the pants and dresses I think.

Zoe's Got a New Friend

It's Back to Work

Image
I still have some birthday "blues" but got no choice but to return to work today. So how was my birthday? Don't ask. Let's just say I wasn't in the best of moods. Hehe. But all was good anyway. At least I got to attend mass at Stella Orientis with my daughter and husband and then had some lunch in a nice restaurant. That alone is a special gift. The rest of the day was uneventful but that's okay. Anyway, here's Zoe "enjoying" my birthday. LOL. Ahhh...what could be a better day than having to eat your favorite french fries? Simple joys are all that matter really. P.S. Thank you to all who sent out comments and birthday greetings! :0)

Feeling Better

At last I'm feeling so much better today. I've been praying hard that all will fall into place. It's not that bad naman pala. Actually, it's even turning out better than I imagined. To remedy my problem, I decided today to sneak out of the office for a while during lunch time to rush to my gownmaker. I brought along my good friend Riza who's good with people (babaeng bakla kumbaga) to help me with my dilemma. I'm so happy that I did just that because she was able to help me deal with them, get things settled and at the same time, laugh & smile. Hay, you know I realized that I'm still such a worry-wart as before. I've not really changed much. You know, I've been a worry-wart for ages! That's my weakness. For example, I still have vivid memories getting to school when I was grade 3, falling in line for the flag ceremony and then realizing that I forgot to do a Math assignment that day, I end up grappling my bag wanting to have a quick dash on t

Upset

I don't know with some people. But sometimes, at first sight pa lang, I know that we wouldn't get along. I'm talking about the designers I got to make our gowns for my Dad's wedding. I initially talked to only 1 of the designers and immediately got along with him. But then after we closed our deal, the other designer came into the picture and protested regarding our agreed rates. Hindi daw pwedeng ganun ang price because they don't make gowns that "cheap" anymore. Naimbyerna ang lola mo. I just knew that I wouldn't be happy with their service after that. Anyway, the wedding is just 13 days away and this guy goes calling me saying that he couldn't find our measurements. Better daw to go to their shop and have my measurements re-taken. So you mean to say they haven't started doing our gowns?!!! I already made a big downpayment and had my measurements taken 2 months AGO!!! What's worse, I just couldn't go there because of work. How do they

Hot Men Tag

Image
Sorry but this is a long overdue tag. I think the tag title is "Men I Want to Sleep With" but I kinda don't like the sound of that. So I'm just listing those hunky celebrity guys which I really like. Haha! 1. Wentworth Miller of Prison Break I love those eyes!!! I went ga-ga over them. 2. In the local scene, I like the face of Will Devaughn. Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition kept me wake at night because of him. I think he's a sweet guy. 3. Last but definitely not the LEAST! My (err...our) Coffee Prince --- Gong Yoo. Even my husband likes him and would imitate his way of dressing. Haha! Enuf said. :-) Thanks to Mari and Jesse for tagging me. :-) Now let's move on and go back to reality, alright? Hahaha. My husband is really more than what I asked for. :0)

For The Record

News Flash!!! Zoe has officially been "promoted" to LARGE in the diapers section. Hahaha! I thought she'll be forever using MEDIUM Huggies. LOL. There's definitely no stopping the "baby girl" from growing up. Maybe it's time for another one. :-) Hopefully, soon!

Weekend Recap

Image
Hi! How did your weekend go? Mine was spent utterly forgetting about our weight game and giving in to the delights of bingeing and home cooking. On Friday night, we dashed to Dampa Julia Vargas for some buttered shrimps and squid. We wanted to spend some time together (just the two of us) so we didn't bother to follow our friend who invited us to drink with him. Hehe. Early Saturday morning, after morning mass with Zoe, my husband and I went to Makro for some meats and other groceries since our stocks were already depleted and the helper claims we don't have any more food to eat for lunch. For the longest time, it has been my Dad who does the weekly marketing (shame on me hehehe). And since he still plans to go to the market on Sunday, we took it upon ourselves to plan the menu for the weekend. First meal was inihaw na liempo. Yummmmmmy! We chanced upon a really good piece of liempo in Makro that turned out super crunchy and delicious when placed in the turbo broiler. On the si

Help With Seemingly Unending Debts

Image
Eversince we started a family, expenses have been never ending. From the weekly grocery expense to the big utility bills, to be able to sustain a comfortable level of living is definitely not cheap. To be able to make it to the next payday, we sometimes had to resort to using our credit cards and making personal loans. But with the rising interest rates of these credit card companies, we end up spending a lot more that I thought on finance charges and what-not and I know it's not far until we feel the cringe of these charges on our dispensable income. That is, until we find a good solution to this problem of bad credit loans. Being tied to these bad credit credit cards , I am relieved to find out about Bad Credit Offers. They can very much be the answer to our credit problems. They offer valuable information and various assistance for your housing, auto and credit card loans. I'll guess it doesn't hurt to try it out. In fact, this might be the end of our seeminly unending d

Birthday Wish

Here's just one of the many things that tickled my fancy... A raspberry red-colored new classic Lacoste handbag! This is so much cheaper than the other people's must-have's but still definitely serves the purpose. :-) Right, Hunny? *picture cropped from the Lacoste website .

Beautiful Invitations and More

Being a melancholy person that I am, I consider myself as very idealistic and a sort of a perfectionist. I also love music and the arts and have a certain inclination for artistic and beautiful things. Thus, when it came to my wedding and my daughter's baptismal and birthday, not only did I want it to be perfect but I also made it a point to only prepare very nice and elegant invitations with letterpress printing . I find these kinds of invitations to be oh-so-charming and beautiful! For example, for my wedding, we used cream-colored invitations with delicate but simple fonts. We just added a touch of pink and silver which were our wedding colors by tying the invitations in a nice bow. With this presentation, we got numerous favorable remarks from our family and friends regarding how liked our our wedding invitations so much. On the occasion that our daughter was born, we also sent out baby announcements coupled with the baptismal party invitations. The colors this time were cream

Continuation...

Here's the continuation of my story about the current sales around the Metro. After going around the different shops for kids, I checked out Bayo but sad to say, the clothes there were either have a weird style or were a wrong fit for my body-type as well as my body-size. LOL. Empty-handed, I decided to just head to Rustan's for a quick look-see of the latest stuff there. Haha. Since I was pressed for time, I only got to go around in one floor. I saw their Crocs stuff and was disappointed that they didn't any agreeable colors for their Crocs Malindi. The Havaianas store too was running out of good stocks and sizes. As if to cheer me up, salesguy there told me that brand new stocks will be delivered by tomorrow morning so I can just come back by then. Ha! I guess, it's just not my lucky (shopping-for-myself) day today. Shopping has never been this hard for me. But I guess, that's better since I saved myself any additional credit card swipes and bills to pay! P.S. SM

Gingersnaps

Image
I went out during my lunch break for a quick trip to Glorietta since I heard that some shops in the Ayala Malls were having a sale. Being a sucker for discounted items, I simply had to go there. After just 5 minutes of roaming around with no particular destination, I chanced upon the Gingersnaps boutique in the Teen Zone at the 3rd floor of Glorietta. This is where most of the shops which got "bombed" transfered. I got Zoe an off-white t-shirt with silver embellishments. Of course, it was on sale! From 480, it was marked down to just 350 bucks. I love it! Hey, the saleslady there told me that there will be another Gingersnaps Warehouse Sale in Pasig this month of May. I remember last December when I went to their sale, I went home with so many "goodies" which cost only 150-200 each. Super good buy! And so I left my telephone number with them so they can inform me when I have to RUSH OVER THERE. Haha! I just love shopping for Zoe. :-)

A Great Adventure

My uncle from the United States retired a few years ago after working as a country auditor for a good thirty years. While he was working, he worked long hours and was assigned on business trips all the time. He told us that there were times that he had to be away for weeks. So on particular occasions, he would bring along my aunt with him so that they can at least be together and explore the different cities he's assigned to in the evenings and on his days-off. Right after retirement, to make up for lost time, he and my aunt decided to get that much-needed rest and recreation. They decided to book a Royal Caribbean cruise, not once but twice, which took them to great places around the world. They often tell us stories from these unforgettable trips and listening to him makes me secretly envious. Oh I wish I could plan a similar kind of vacation with my husband! If only I could find the perfect time for both of us. I honestly don't want to wait until we're too old to decide

Taken This Morning

Image
I decided to bring out my camera and take some pictures of Zoe this morning. She just got back from her morning "jog" around the village plaza and rushed to go back to the house upon seeing me in my office grab. Here's her picture -- all sweaty from all that exercise and aggravated further by the very hot weather this morning. She's getting bigger and bigger, no longer the small fragile baby girl she used to be. Picture of Mommy and Zoe (waving bye-bye as her Daddy pulls out the car from the garage) ^_^

Buying Another Car

Image
I've been prodding my husband lately to buy me a new car. While he is wishing to buy another big car for the family in the near future, I currently have my eyes on purchasing a black Honda Jazz for myself. I can already imagine myself driving this car on my way to work. I think it's going to be pretty cool! Actually, our family currently has four cars already. You might think that we really don't need an additional car. However, two out of those four cars are already old for my standard. Thus, I'm thinking of selling the two older ones and replacing it with new ones. Those two cars would be our silver-blue Mitshubishi Lancer (nicknamed Matilde) and red-mica Toyota Corolla (nicknamed Mica). Although both cars still run very well and still look pretty amazing even with the passing of time, it's reseller price in the market is already way down. Thus, if we still wait, we might not be able to sell it at a good-enough price. The only problem I think would be having to ac
