Money Quotes

Re-posting from a helpful site  since I want to take my professional and financial plans in perspective.  Maybe these will help me decide what to do and hopefully it will lead me to true financial freedom.  I want to be financially independent. I want to work (if I decide to work) on what I enjoy the most, not on what pays me the most. — Jose Anes, financial  blogger Paying for yesterday is perhaps the most important investment you can make in your future. Getting rid of those debts will buy you breathing room. It will buy a future of freedom. And it will bring your dreams — the things you really, really want — into reach. — Elizabeth Warren & Amelia Warren Tyagi,  All Your Worth  (Review) Your bills tell your past, but they also tell your future. Every debt, every monthly payment, every dollar you owe is a claim against your future. Debt affects what you can — and cannot — do about your future. And when you pay off the credit cards and IO...

Where in the World Was I?

Image
Gawd. I missing blogging. I miss writing. For the past weeks, I found myself just plain TOO BUSY with work that I've forgotten what joy it brings me when I start to pound on my computer and just talk about anything under the sun. But most of all, I miss journalizing about my life, my kids, my family. I actually hate it when I feel that I've missed out so many of my kids' milestones because I'm too pre-occupied with deadlines and reports. How I wish I can go back to my old blogger life. Pray that it will happen. Hay. Meantime, let me indulge you with some of the party preparations which I've been doing. Luigi is turning 1 while Zoe is turning 4 in a few weeks. How fast time flies! These are part of their birthday invitation. I did it myself. Aren't my kids so cute? :-) We're having Zoe and Elmo of Sesame Street theme. I've already booked the place, the magician & host, photographer, the venue decor supplier. What are still lacking are the caterer, so...

Howdy

Just when I thought I was back to regular pro-blogging, I had to let blogging be set aside again for more important things namely, work, Zoe's school and other domestic stuff. I had already missed out blogging about several interesting things about my wonderful (?) life. Generally, I'm still in transition stage with my new work and new responsibilities. Hopefully, by month's end, I'll be a back to a normalcy which I have been hoping for. That's in terms of my interior life, my financial status, my family life and love life (ahem). Anyway, hope to see you guys around soon. Feel free to leave a comment.

SAHM - Me!

Wee! I am officially a Stay At Home Mom for one week...and it feels really good. After working for 13 long years with the same company, I am finally FREE! (Well, at least for 5 more days.) :-) At any rate, I think Zoe is doing a bit of "lambing" by getting a little sick last night. She and I cuddled together until she fell asleep. Hay, my kids are really my heart. They make me who I am and I love them so much. Wish me luck guys on my next endeavor!

Our Team-building Activity

Image
We had a team-building activity last April 17. It was my first time to have something like this in my 13 years of working with the company. And although I had already had a "secret" plan cooking up (more on that next time), it was, I think, worthwhile experiencing. Anyway, here are some of our pictures. Our current feelings: Jumbled-up letters activity: Lunch-break: Group pic: (Sigh) ~ I'll miss OAGC.

Looking Forward to...

Rubbing Elbows...

...with the President (and other VIPs). ...that's how our annual office Christmas party has always been. Boring? Well, not really. It's actually kinda enjoy to eat and party with our bosses once a year. :-) (My other less serious party here .)

Back to Work

"Mommy, hwag ka pasok sa office! Hindi na! Dito ka na lang house." That's what Zoe said to me upon waking up and seeing me already in my black office suit this morning. Hay. Really it breaks my heart to leave them at home while I go very early to work and not return until the evening. I had replied by saying, "Mommy has to go to the office today, Sweetheart". "Sa ___ (says name of my office)? Well, okay. Ako, wowork din dito na lang sa house." (By this she means she will play with her new laptop which I got from the Richwell sale --- found in my next entry). Oh well, that's the life of a working mom. This is the life I choose to live so I better just make the most of it.

The Week that was...

Image
The work week is almost over and I can't believe it! It was a particularly draining week for me with lots of things to do at work and at home. I had my share of personal struggles (cravings, aches, pressures, stress, moods, not to mention losing my pr, huhuhu) this week but what else can I do? Anyhow, thank God it's FRIDAY! Hope you guys enjoy your weekend!!! Hugs!

How Was Your Weekend?

Happy Monday everyone! How was your weekend? As for me, I enjoyed every minute of it. I was able to get some rest and my hubby finally arrived from a 3-day business trip in Davao. I'm just so glad to see (and hug) him again. While he was out, I had to go to my doctor last Friday night. My OB told me to monitor my blood pressure (which is getting to be constantly elevated). That's bad news for me and the baby. Anyway, everything else is normal and I guess I just have to deal with my blood pressure (try to live with less stress) and pray to God that everything will be alright. On the side, I've been doing some research on the current VOIP equipment and service called the YupeePhone . I'm doing it for a friend. I am also busy with writing a short article about the Home Matters series which is organized by some good friends. I hope to finish that write-up soon because I'm way past my deadline for the newsletter (so sorry Grace!). With all these pending items, I still ha...

On Success...

Sometimes, I really think if I'm on the right path as far as my family life and career are concerned. I have a fairly stable and well-paying job for the past 12 years. I already finished my graduate studies 5 years ago. I have been happily married for the past 3 years (and counting). My daughter Zoe may be starting to go to school this June and I'm having another baby by the third quarter of this year. Some may say that I'm already successful but sometimes I really wonder if success is the same as staying with the right priorities in life. Making changes is really hard especially for someone like me. I would probably stay where I am unless I am forced to move. I think that the only major factor that can make me give up my job or to transfer to another job would be my family. With a new baby coming this year, I think it's high time to reassess. I realize that what's really keeping me from moving on is because I'm lazy to explore my options. One of the ideas which...

Yup, that's ME today.

Work is Piling Up

Hi guys, just want to squeeze in this little post. Work is still so busy at the moment (on top of all the Lehman buzz and Wall Street problems) so I really got to control myself from doing personal blogging. Priorities, priorities!!! I know I owe so many tags/award posts from friends and I promise to do it as soon as I can have a breather from my work. Meanwhile, thanks for dropping by! Take care everybody!

Just Today...

I had been feeling pretty tensed at work for some reason and felt my heart tighten and my temper rise... So I told me friend that I didn't feel so well. She asked me what I need to do or what medicine I need to take to cure it. I said ~~~ "The cure for my blood pressure? RESIGN, I think that's what I need to do." She laughed and then paused coz she knew that it was a joke half-meant. But ain't it true that most of the diseases that people get are mostly coming from the pressures of work or the stress in life? Well, I'm just in my early 30's but I sometimes feel as if my body's getting old and so stressed out already. Maybe I need a lifestyle change or maybe a change in jobs. But when oh when will that come? :-)

Another Rainy Day

It's another rainy day today. I went through a whole lot of traffic this morning and arrived almost two hours late for work. While in the car, my husband and I were already contemplating on making a U-turn and head back home. He was telling me that if only he had no important appointment today, he would have chided me to just stay at home, cuddle up and watch the All-Star Game which starts today in the Yankee Stadium. It was so tempting! You see, my husband is a baseball enthusiast. He even logs on the web to update himself on the latest baseball and football scores. He also likes to look for football picks and college football picks in the website of addict sports . Too bad, we really had to go to work today.

Putting God First

As I said in my previous posts , I took some time out to do a retreat last week. It really took me a great deal to finally decide to push through with it because my work has literally tied me up (as in super tied up!). After praying about it, I decided put God first, just set everything aside and go to my retreat as planned. And then on the day before the retreat as I was rushing to finish what I can, I find out that I've been promoted in the office. Isn't that GREEEAAAATTTT?! God is really so generous. :-)

Whaaa! Migraine!

Somebody's been re-varnishing our Narra door at home and I'm feeling hilo over the smell of the varnish. Still gotta finish a ton of take-home work from the office and I can't concentrate. I have this splitting headache na. Can't believe how pressured I can be over doing the minutes of meeting which has been long overdue 2 months ago. I know, I know. Doing this pays so much more than bl_gg_ng. But how come I'm not as interested? LOL.

Bonus Treat

Image
Feeling a little richer last week, I took the liberty of treating myself and some special people for dinner & lunch out as a celebration for the bonus which I received earlier last week. First, I treated my Hunny for dinner in Friday's Serendra during our weekly date. We weren't so pleased with the food and service in this particular Friday's branch. The food arrived around 30 minutes after we ordered and it tasted rather bland for my taste. Anyway, at least I had a great time being with my dear husband. If not for that... Next was my treat for my officemates at Conti's. While we did wait for a good 30 minutes before we were seated, the food was definitely worth the wait. I really realy love Conti's (whether or not I know Angie, one of the Conti sisters). Already thinking of booking them again for Zoe's 2nd birthday party this September. We got them to cater before for Zoe's baptismal party and it was so patok. Wishing it's bonus day everyday!
