Lost in Translation
My uncle from Germany decided to avail of a housing loan here to refinance their new property in the countryside. Processing their documentary requirements was such a hard thing since all their official documents like their statements of account, income tax returns and proof of salary where all written in German. Poor bank manager, she could not decipher a single word that was in their documents. She would have wanted to go to a translation agency to fast-track the loan processing of my relatives but bank management wanted my uncle to be the one pay for the translation from German to English plus with the requirement to have all of the loan documents written in German authenticated by the German embassy. Because of this, it took a longer while before everything was submitted and approved by the bank. We didn't realize that it would be that hard for my uncle to apply for a housing loan.
